Map & Directions to Karst Park Soccer Fields This map also shows "Fairfax Recreation Center" at Lake Monroe & the Tibetan Cultural Center, created by the Dalai Lama's older brother, Tubten Norbu, longtime resident of Bloomington. Four visits by the Dalai Lama drew thousands to the grounds to pray for Tibetan independence and world peace. The 1999 Kalachakra for World Peace was held here. On the wooded grounds of the cultural center, there are two sacred structures known as stupas and an interfaith temple, all consecrated by the Dalai Lama. The Jangchub Chorten, is a monument to the 1 million Tibetans who have perished since 1959. The Chorten contains hundreds of Buddhist Scriptures.
